Requirements and Selection principles 


Ideal blowing agent must meet several requirements:

 

(1)Decomposition temperature of the blowing agent should match the processing temperature of the polymer;

 

(2)Releasing foaming gas within a certain temperature range, and controlled in the processing of the polymer;

 

(3)Good storage stability, not self-catalytic decomposition, and avoid heat accumulation and the polymer suffered heat damage;

 

(4)Foaming gas should be chemically inert, CO2 or N2 is the best;

 

(5)Should be easily added and uniformly dispersed in the polymer.

 

(6)Foaming agent and its breakdown products harmless to human health, thermal stability and mechanical properties of polymer has no adverse effect, do not produce corrosion;

 

(7)Decomposition  residue should be colorless, no pollution, no seepage and has good compatibility with polymers;

 

(8)Releasing large amounts of gas and cheap.

Of course, for some foam polymer above certain requirements is not necessary.
